Vietnamese women to defend championship title at AVC Nations Cup 2026
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women's volleyball team, the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Nations Cup 2025 champions, will defend their title in the 2026 edition to be held in the Philippines following a recent decision by the AVC.
In the September 10 announcement, the AVC granted the rights to host the AVC Nations Cup 2026 to the Philippines from June 8 – 14, 2026.
In the 2025 edition held in Hanoi, where the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team coached by Nguyen Tuan Kiet defeated the Philippines 3-0 in the final, setting a record with three consecutive titles (2023, 2024, 2025). This achievement also secured them a berth at the FIVB Challenge Cup 2025 later this year.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Vietnamese team will undertake two tasks - defending their title at the AVC Nations Cup and competing in both the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship 2026 and the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20).
The continent tournament, scheduled for August 2026 in China, will bring together the region’s 12 strongest teams. Vietnam previously impressed at this tournament in 2023, finishing fourth and earning a spot at the 2025 World Championship in Thailand.
