Vietnamese players make strong start at 2025 World Cup 3-Cushion Billiards
VOV.VN - Ten Vietnamese cueists advanced to the second round of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup Billiards Carom 3-Cushion after impressive performances on the tournament’s opening day held on May 19, at Nguyen Du Stadium in District 1.

Notably, Nguyen Hoai Phong of An Giang delivered two emphatic victories, defeating Henk Overmars of the Netherlands 30-4 and Masayuki Sawaoka of Japan 30-14 to top Group M and secure his spot in the next stage.
Several other local players also topped their respective groups to progress, while seasoned player Ly The Vinh was eliminated after one win and one draw.
Winners of the preliminary round will join 32 seeded cueists in the second round, where 16 round-robin groups will compete for places in the knock-out stage.
The tournament champion will receive EUR16,000 and 80 bonus points, with the runner-up and third-place finishers awarded EUR10,000 and EUR6,000, along with 54 and 36 points, respectively.
