At the press conference held by Saigontourist Cable Television Joint venture Company (SCTV) on May 14, the organising board revealed that this marks the first time a tournament in Vietnam will allow all domestic players, both professional and amateur, to register and compete with the world's top players.

In in addition to familiar local stars such as Tran Quyet Chien (world’s No.3), Tran Thanh Luc (world’s No.5), and Bao Phuong Vinh (world’s No.15), a number of high-profile foreign cueists will also attend the competition, including Tasdemir of Turkey (world’s No.37), Heo Jung Han of the Republic of Korea (world’s No.8), and Kim Jun Tae of the Republic of Korea (world’s No.10).

The tournament not only promises to bring top-notch matches, but also contributes significantly to the development of Vietnamese billiards, thereby creating a launching pad for young talents and continuing to affirm its position in the global sports arena.

The main round will consist of eight players, including six invited players and two players who advance from the qualifying round.

The players are to be divided into two groups and will play in a round-robin format. The top two players from each group will enter the semi-finals to compete for the championship title.

The tournament is expected to welcome a total of 250 local and foreign players.

Vietnamese billiards players to compete at PBA Tour championship

Four representatives from Vietnam – Nguyen Huynh Phuong Linh, Ma Minh Cam, Ngo Dinh Nai and Nguyen Quoc Nguyen -- are on the PBA's list of attendees announced on February 1.
