Vietnamese players advance to PPA Asia Hanoi Cup’s semi-finals
VOV.VN - Vietnamese players Ly Hoang Nam and Truong Vinh Hien have qualified for the men’s singles semi-finals at the ongoing Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Asia 1000-MB Hanoi Cup 2026.
Vinh Hien delivered a dominant performance in the April 3 quarter-finals, defeating Australia’s Mitchell Hargreaves in straight sets. He took control early with quick reflexes and precise shots, winning the first set 11-2. Despite attempts to adjust, Hargreaves was unable to turn things around, losing the second set 4-11.
In another quarter-final match, Hoang Nam also impressed with a convincing 2-0 victory over the United States’ Tama Shimabukuro. He controlled the match from the outset with consistent play and strong ball control, winning 11-3, 11-0.
In the semi-finals, Truong Vinh Hien will face Federico Staksrud from Argentina, while Ly Hoang Nam will clash with Dylan Frazier from the US.
The final round is set to be held on April 5, with total prizes of up to US$300,000. Through the tournament players have chance to accumulate points to upgrade their world ranking.
The PPA Asia 1000-MB Hanoi Cup 2026 has brought together leading players from Asia and beyond, reflecting the rapid growth of pickleball in the region.
