Vietnamese martial arts honoured in France

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese martial arts championships concluded in France on March 13 with nearly 80 medals awarded to outstanding martial artists at the event.

This year the competition had only attracted the participation of 250 martial artists from across France due to the complicated nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After two days of competitions, organisers presented a total of 78 medals, including 27 golds, 23 silvers, and 28 bronzes, to outstanding martial artists at the event.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Nghiem Xuan Dong, director of the Vietnam Cultural Center in France, noted that Vietnamese martial arts are developing in France and throughout Europe. The contest served to significantly contribute to promoting Vietnamese culture and martial arts throughout the country.

Originally entering France in the early 50s of the 20th century, Vietnamese martial arts have so far attracted 12,000 practitioners from across the country.

According to the organising board, Vietnam Martial Arts Fighting Championships is scheduled to take place in Paris on March 26 - 27.
