Vietnamese lifters win 17 titles at Asian champs

Vietnam bagged 17 gold medals at the Asian Youth, Junior Men’s and Women’s Weightlifting Championships, which is ongoing in Tokyo, Japan.

On the last day of competition, the Vietnamese athletes pocketed five titles by Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai (one in women’s 63kg), Nguyen Thi Van (three in women’s 69kg) and Nguyen Quang Truong (one in men’s 69kg). Truong also won two silver medals.

Earlier, the Southeast Asian team won 12 gold medals on the first two days.

The championships ends on November 15; Vietnam, however, have completed their events.
