Vietnam wrestling earns three places at Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026

VOV.VN - Vietnam has been awarded three places in beach wrestling at the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, with official notification sent to the Vietnam Wrestling Federation.

The United World Wrestling (UWW) has notified the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Sports Authority of Vietnam that Vietnam has been awarded three official places at the Games.

“This is good news for Vietnamese wrestling. The places are in beach wrestling. The youth team is preparing for upcoming world competitions to seek additional places,” said Ta Dinh Duc, who oversees wrestling under the Sports Authority of Vietnam and serves as secretary-general of the federation.

The three places are in the men’s 60kg and 90kg categories, and the women’s 45kg category in beach wrestling.

The places come from results achieved by Vietnamese youth wrestlers at the 2025 U17 World Championships.

Beach wrestling at Dakar 2026 will include four men’s and four women’s weight categories, with 12 places in each category through qualification events under regulations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the UWW.

The Games will take place from October 31 to November 13 in Dakar, with 25 official sports.
