Vietnam to host 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series for first time

VOV.VN - Vietnam has been awarded the right to host the 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series by the United World Wrestling (UWW), marking the first time the country will stage the event.

According to the Vietnam Wrestling, preparations would be carried out carefully as this is the first time Vietnam hosts an event of this level.

The competition is scheduled for May 9-10 at a beach venue in the central city of Da Nang. Ahead of the event, the Vietnam Wrestling Federation and UWW will conduct inspections of facilities to ensure they meet requirements.

Ta Dinh Duc, General Secretary of the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, said events will be held for both men and women, with leading athletes expected to compete. He added that the tournament will give Vietnam’s team an opportunity to gain experience.

In preparation, the national team has been training on a sand facility at the National Sports Training Centre. Training conditions have been checked to meet technical requirements, while the coaching staff is focusing on key athletes before finalizing the list for the event.

Competition events will be organised by the Vietnam Wrestling Federation in coordination with UWW in line with regulations for men and women.
