Vietnam women’s team drop one place in latest FIFA rankings
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women's national football team have slipped one spot to 37th globally in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on March 26.
Under head coach Mai Duc Chung, the team lost 27 points following an underwhelming performance at the recent 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. Despite securing a win over India in their opening match, Vietnam suffered subsequent defeats to Chinese Taipei and Japan, ending their Asian Cup campaign.
The team were relegated to 37th spot with 1,594 points. Vietnam still maintained their top position in Southeast Asia. However, the gap has narrowed as the Philippines climbed two places to 39th globally with 1,566 points (+38).
Thailand rose to 52nd with 1,477 points, followed by Myanmar at 54th (1,470 points). Meanwhile, Malaysia slipped one place to 92nd with 1,218 points.
In Asia, Japan continue to lead the region, ranking fifth in the world after winning the 2027 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. They are followed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Australia
Globally, the top three positions remain unchanged, with Spain, the United States, and Germany retaining their respective places.
