Vietnam widen gap over Thailand in latest FIFA women’s rankings
VOV.VN - The world football governing body FIFA has recently announced the world rankings for women's national teams in August, with Vietnam staying ahead of their arch-rivals Thailand by 16 places.

According to the rankings announced by FIFA on August 7, the Vietnamese team continue to lead the Southeast Asian region, holding the 37th position in the world.
This position places Vietnam 2 spots ahead of the Philippines and far ahead of other teams in Southeast Asia. Thailand just dropped 7 places to 53rd in the world, falling 16 places behind Vietnam.
Besides Thailand, Indonesia also experienced the largest drop in Southeast Asia, falling 11 places to 106th in the world. Myanmar dropped 1 place to 56th, while Laos slipped 6 places to 113th. Cambodia remain unchanged at 118th.
On the other hand, Timor Leste rose 1 place to 157th. Malaysia and Singapore made impressive leaps, each rising 10 places to 92nd and 149th respectively.
Currently, Southeast Asian teams are competing at the 2025 ASEAN Women’s Championship held in Vietnam.
At the top positions, Spain overtook the United States to become world number one, while Sweden climbed 3 places to 3rd position.
The top ten powerhouses in the world were England, USA, Sweden, England, Germany, France, Brazil, Japan, Canada and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
In this update, Bangladesh were the fastest riser, climbing 24 places to 104th in the world. Conversely, Mongolia dramatically by 22 places, making it the largest fall globally.
