Vietnamese women’s team falls four spots in latest FIFA rankings

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women's national football team has dropped four places in the most recent world rankings released recently by global governing body FIFA.

This drop comes following their poor performances in three friendly matches against Germany, Spain, and New Zealand, as well as three World Cup games against the United States, Portugal, and the Netherlands.

The team was therefore deducted a total 29.4 points and pushed down to 36th spot.

Despite this drop, the Vietnamese women’s national team managed to maintain their top position in Southeast Asia, followed by the Philippines and Thailand.

After returning home from World Cup, the women's national football team are set to participate in two important events over the coming months.

At the Asian Games, they are to play Japan, Bangladesh, and Nepal in the group phase, with matches being played from September 19 to September 24 in Hangzhou of China.

At the Olympics' second qualification, Vietnam will face Japan, Uzbekistan, and India from October 23 to November 11 in Uzbekistan.
