Vietnam U23 draw 1-1 with DPR Korea in CFA Team China opener
VOV.VN -Vietnam U23 conceded a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with DPR Korea U23 in their opening match at the CFA Team China 2026 held on March 25 in Xi’an, China.
Vietnam took an early lead in the ninth minute after a defensive error by DPR Korea. Minh Tam capitalised on the mistake, finishing inside the box to put his side ahead.
After the opener, Vietnam maintained a compact shape, limiting space in defence while posing a threat on the counter-attack. DPR Korea created few clear chances in the first half.
Vietnam came close to doubling the lead in the 28th minute, but Cong Phuong failed to convert a clear opportunity. Earlier, Le Nguyen Hoang was booked for a foul to stop a quick counter.
DPR Korea increased the pressure after the break, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Coach Dinh Hong Vinh’s side focused on defensive organisation and made several substitutions to reinforce control and defence under sustained attacks.
The equaliser came in the 79th minute, when DPR Korea broke through in the penalty area and punished a defensive lapse. The match ended 1-1, with both sides sharing the points in Xi’an.
Vietnam U23 will face Thailand U23 on March 28, while DPR Korea U23 will take on hosts China U23.
