Vietnam U20s gather in preparation for AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - Vietnamese head coach Dinh The Nam announced a list of 30 players who will make up the national U20 football team’s squad in the AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers which are due to run from September 14 to September 18.
Apart from familiar players who recently competed in the 2022 AFF U19 Youth Championship, coach Nam has called up six new faces, including Huy Hoang of Vietnam FC, Thanh Dat, Dang Duong, and Thah An of Viettel FC, Phuc Thinh of Can Tho FC, and Trung Hieu of Viettel FC.
At the AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers, Vietnam will take on Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), and Timor Leste in Group F. The group winners will then progress to the AFC U20 Asian Cup finals which are set to take place in February, 2023, in Uzbekistan. In addition, Asian representatives at the FIFA U20 World Cup will also be decided at the regional tournament.
As scheduled, Vietnam’s U20 team will gather for training at Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from July 22 to July 31.
The team will then move to Binh Duong province to compete in an international U19 tournament in the southern province from August 5 to August 11. The team are set to host Japan, Myanmar, and Saudi Arabia.
