Vietnam U20 women begin training camp in China ahead of AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup

VOV.VN - Vietnam U20 women’s national team will hold a training camp in China from March 6 to 14 as part of preparations for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026, where teams will compete for spots at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

The team began training on February 23 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi under head coach Okiyama Masahiko.

After the camp in China, the squad will travel to Ho Chi Minh City from March 15 to 28 to adapt to weather conditions similar to those expected in Thailand, the host country of the tournament. During this period, Vietnam are scheduled to play two friendly matches against Uzbekistan’s U20 women’s team on March 24 and 27.

At the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026, Vietnam are drawn in Group A alongside China, hosts Thailand and Bangladesh.

Coach Okiyama Masahiko and his players aim to make a positive mark at the continental tournament and compete for a place at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

According to tournament regulations, the 12 participating teams will be divided into three groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals. The four quarter-final winners will qualify for the World Cup in Poland.
