Vietnam trounce India 3-1 in Paris 2024 Summer Olympics qualifier
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s national team claimed their first three points after trouncing India 3-1 in Uzbekistan on October 29 in their second match of the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Coach Mai Duc Chung sent in the strongest line-up aiming to take control of the game just from the first whistle.
In the fourth minute Tuyet Dung accurately crossed the ball for Huynh Nhu who headed in, opening the scoring.
Nearly 20 minutes later, Hai Linh doubled Vietnam’s lead after receiving a brilliant pass from Duong Thi Van.
Vietnamese players continued to flex their muscle in the second half, but it was not until the 73rd minute that they scored another goal. Hai Yen jumped high and headed the ball home from a free kick, extending Vietnam’s lead.
Seven minutes later Ranganathan scored a consolation goal for India.
After the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said he was satisfied with the team’s performance, and said his players would try their best in their last group qualifying match against Asian powerhouses Japan on November 1.
Japan crushed Vietnam 7-0 during the group stage of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, recently.
Vietnam lost 0-1 to Uzbekistan in their opening game on October 26 and the loss jeopardized their hope to advance to the next round.
