Vietnam triumph at KUSEA, KUSEA Beach Kurash Championships in Indonesia
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Kurash team have once again confirmed their position as the number one in Southeast Asia, winning first place at both the second KUSEA Championship and the first KUSEA Beach Kurash Championship that concluded in Indonesia on August 31.

Vietnamese wrestlers demonstrated a clearly superior performance compared to other delegations in the region, bagging 36 golds, 22 silvers, and 7 bronzes at the championships.
The championships brought together teams from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Myanmar, competing in both indoor and beach Kurash disciplines.
Kurash has already proven fruitful for Vietnam. At SEA Games 31, the team secured 7 golds, 5 silvers, and 5 bronzes, leading all participating countries.
In the inaugural Southeast Asian Kurash Championship in 2024, held in Selangor, Malaysia, Vietnam also impressed with 14 golds. At the continental level, Vietnam shone at the 2025 Asian Kurash Championship in the Republic of Korea in August 2025, winning 3 golds, 2 silvers, and 3 bronzes, finishing second overall behind Uzbekistan, which claimed 45 golds.
Their stellar performance in Indonesia is expected to boost Vietnam’s prospects, as Kurash will be included in the programme of the coming 2026 ASIAD in Japan.
