Vietnam to play Thailand in ASEAN U16 Boys Championships semi-finals
VOV.VN - Group B winners Vietnam will take on Grou C second placed Thailand in the semi-finals of the ongoing ASEAN U16 Boys Championships in Indonesia after the latter beat Malaysia 3-1 in their last Group C match on June 30.
Vietnam earlier topped Group B after they stunned Myanmar 5-1.
In addition to the Vietnam vs Thailand in the first semi-final match, the organizing board also identified another semi-final clash between Group C winners Australia and Group A winners Indonesia.
The Vietnam vs Thailand match is scheduled to take place at 15:00 (local time) and is considered a disadvantage for both teams as it is very hot at that time in Indonesia.
The other match is due to take place at 19:30 on the same day.
Two years ago, Vietnam overwhelmed Thailand in the semi-finals of the same tournament to advance to the finals.
Coach Tran Minh Chien and his players vowed to do the same in this year’s tournament.
The ASEAN U16 Boys Championships 2024 is getting underway in Indonesia from June 21 to July 7 with the participation of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
