Vietnam to host mass run in March

Seven million Vietnamese are expected to participate in Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2016, which will begin across the country simultaneously at 7 am on March 26.

The targeted number of participants for 2016 doubles the figure for 2015, posing a big task for the sports administration, said Vuong Bich Thang, head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Trainning.

As such, early preparations are underway, with 40 localities establishing blueprints to organise the mass event.

Students, military personnel and senior citizens will be mobilised to support the health campaign, which aims to encourage people to practice regular exercise.
