Vietnam to face hosts Thailand in ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national futsal team will compete in Group A alongside hosts Thailand at the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026.
The group is expected to be highly competitive, featuring Thailand, the host nation and the most successful side in the tournament’s history. Myanmar are also considered a challenging opponent with a physical and disciplined style of play.
Group B includes defending champions Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Brunei, setting up several closely contested matchups, particularly among Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia.
The 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship will take place from April 5 to 11, 2026, at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium in Thailand. The group stage runs from April 5 to 7, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals on April 9. The final is scheduled for April 11.
At the previous edition in 2024, Vietnam defeated Thailand in the group stage before losing to Indonesia in the final.
