Nguyen Manh Hung, General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation (VAF), said a participation plan has been drawn up. Athlete selection will be determined by the coaching staff based on each event before official registration.
Events on the programme include the 60m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, triple jump, javelin throw, shot put and the 4x400m relay, as well as the men’s decathlon, the women’s heptathlon and the mixed 4x400m relay.
Vietnam did not compete at the most recent edition of the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, held in Iran in 2024. At the 2023 edition, however, the team won one gold and one silver medal.
The gold was claimed by Nguyen Thi Oanh in the 1,500m, while Nguyen Thi Huyen took silver in the 400m. Nguyen Thi Oanh remains one of the most experienced and successful athletes on Vietnam’s team at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships.
