Local athlete successfully defends gold medal at Asian athletics tournament
VOV.VN - Nguyen Khanh Linh, 17, won a gold medal for the second consecutive year at the Asian U18 Athletics Championships held on April 27 in Uzbekistan.
She finished the girls' 1,500 metres with a time of 4:35:15 minutes, breaking her own record previously set at the Asian athletics tournament last year in Kuwait with a time of 4:51:61 minutes.
Linh surpassed Aiana of Kazakhstan who ranked second after clocking 4:36:75 minutes. Maftuna of host nation Uzbekistan came third with 4:39:57 minutes.
The Asian U18 Athletics Championships will last through to April 30, attracting nearly 400 athletes from 30 countries and territories.
The biennial tournament organised by the Asian Athletics Association was first held back in 2015. The 2021 edition was postponed till 2022 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
