Vietnam third at first Asian petanque tourney

Vietnam finished third at the first Asian Boules Sport Confederation Petanque Championship in Thailand with two silvers and one bronze.

The Vietnamese team came second in the women’s triple event, losing to Thailand 1 in the final match on December 11 – the last day of the tournament.

Thailand 2 and Malaysia shared the third position.

The Vietnamese squad also grabbed a bronze in the junior triple event.

On December 10, Huynh Cong Tam earned a silver in the men’s shooting event. He lost 31-43 to Sarawut Sriboonpeng of the hosts.

His teammate Nguyen Thi Thi claimed a bronze in women’s shooting. She was defeated 34-36 in the semifinals by No, 2 seed Phantipha Wongchuyej of Thailand.

Thailand topped the overall ranking with three golds, two silvers and one bronze. Cambodia came second with three gold and two bronze medals.
