Vietnam sends five cueists to World 3-Cushion Championship

VOV.VN - Five billiard players will represent Vietnam at the World 3-Cushion Championship which is set to be held in Belgium from October 14 to 18.

Tran Quyet Chien is the most hopeful of Vietnam as he had ever won a silver medal in the world championship in 2023. At this year's tournament, Quyet Chien is placed in Group D alongside Luis Sobreyra (Mexico) and Lee Beom-yeol (Republic of Korea).

Another notable Vietnamese player is Tran Thanh Luc, who finished as runner-up at the 2024 World Championship held in Vietnam, after losing to Cho Myung-woo (Republic of Korea). He will compete in Group F with Jose Miguel Soares (Portugal) and Pedro Gonzalez (Colombia).

Three other cueists are Bao Phuong Vinh, Chiem Hong Thai, and Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu.

The World 3-Cushion Championship attracts 48 players worldwide. Players will compete in a round-robin format within their groups, with the top two from each advancing to the next round.

Prior to the championship, the Vietnamese cueists are also participating in the 2025 Billiards World Cup, also being held in Belgium and running through October 12. So far, Bao Phuong Vinh and Chiem Hong Thai have shown promising results in their opening matches.
