Chien rises to World No. 2 despite World Cup 3-Cushion Billiards setback
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top cueist Tran Quyet Chien has ascended to world No.2 in the latest rankings with 346 points, despite falling short of defending his title at the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup Billiards Carom 3-Cushion which was wrapped up on May 26.

In a tightly contested semifinal, Chien was narrowly defeated by Dutch legend Dick Jaspers, losing 50-48 after 30 innings. The result saw Chien share third place with Hwang Bong Joo of the Republic of Korea (RoK).
Jaspers, the current world No. 1, went on to claim the championship, decisively beating the RoK’s Heo Jung Han 50-33 in the final. This victory marks the 32nd World Cup title of Jaspers’ illustrious career and his first win in Ho Chi Minh City after nine attempts.
Another highlight for Vietnamese billiards came as Tran Quang Luc climbed one spot to world No. 4, further affirming Vietnam’s growing prominence in the international 3-cushion scene.
The next stop on the World Cup circuit is slated for June 6 to 15 in Turkey, where top cueists will continue their battle for ranking points and prestige.
