Vietnam ready for 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals
VOV.VN - Vietnamese players have affirmed their determination to perform at their very best at the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals, as preparations for the tournament have been completed in full confidence.
Speaking at the pre-tournament press conference, head coach Mai Duc Chung confirmed that his team are thoroughly prepared and mentally focused ahead of their Group C campaign. On behalf of the squad, he extended sincere appreciation to the Asian Football Confederation and the Football Australia for their warm hospitality and professional organisation, including high-quality accommodation and training facilities.
“We are very satisfied with the support from the Organising Committee,” said Chung, adding Vietnam are entering the tournament in strong physical and tactical condition. However, he acknowledged that Group C presents formidable challenges, featuring strong opponents such as Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei.
“Not only Group C, but all groups in this final round are very competitive….We must stay focused and give our maximum effort in every match,” he stressed.
The chief coach also welcomed the opportunity to compete in Australia, noting that the favourable weather conditions and the enthusiastic support of the Vietnamese community living there will serve as an important source of encouragement for the team.
“In football, nothing can be predicted. But facing strong opponents only strengthens our determination. We will do our best to showcase what we have prepared and strictly follow the tactical plans,” he added.
Team captain Huynh Nhu, who also attended the press conference, echoed the coach’s confidence. She praised the tournament’s organisation and expressed satisfaction with the team’s current condition.
“We are happy with the accommodation, training facilities and weather. The team are in good spirits and physically ready,” the capital said.
Reflecting on her leadership role, Nhu highlighted her commitment to maintaining peak form and supporting younger teammates.
“The coaching staff carefully designs training programmes based on each player’s condition to ensure we reach our best form. With my experience, I always try to guide and encourage the younger players. No matter where we compete, our top priority is always the collective success of the team,” she affirmed.
Vietnam are scheduled to play their group-stage matches in Perth, facing India on March 4, Chinese Taipei on March 7 and Japan on March 10 at Perth Rectangular Stadium.
