The coaching staff said the team is in good spirits as it completes preparations for the championships.

In April, Vietnam competed in open-water events at the 2026 Asian Beach Games. Nguyen Huy Hoang won a silver medal in the men's 5km race and another silver in the mixed 4x1,500m relay.

Ahead of the Asian Beach Games, Nguyen Huy Hoang and his teammates trained in China and achieved the expected results.

The 2026 Asian Open Water Swimming Championships are expected to attract many of the continent’s leading swimmers. Several athletes who competed at the 2026 Asian Beach Games are also expected to travel to Indonesia for this year’s event.
