Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang wins silver in 5km race at Asian Beach Games

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Nguyen Huy Hoang won a silver medal in the men’s 5km open water event at the 2026 Asian Beach Games, with teammates adding two bronze medals on April 26.

Hoang finished second in the men’s 5km race with a time of 53:53.02, narrowly behind China’s Zhang Ziyang after a close contest in the final stages.

Young swimmer Mai Tran Tuan Anh also performed well to take bronze in 53:56.03, giving Vietnam two medals in the event.

Vietnam secured another bronze in the women’s 400m traditional boat race, with a time of 1:53.098, after earlier winning one silver and one bronze in the 100m and 200m events.

Vietnamese athletes did not win medals in the women’s high jump on the same day.

With results on April 26, Vietnam has won two gold, two silver and four bronze medals, placing fourth in the overall standings at the Games, which are being held in Hainan, China.
