Vietnam, Myanmar play out goalless draw at Hong Kong U18 tournament
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s U18 football team endured a tough time against their rivals from Myanmar in their second match of the Hong Kong U18 tournament, recording a goalless draw on April 20.
With a hectic schedule, neither team were at their best going into the match and it showed over the course of 90 minutes.
Both sides looked sluggish, whilst neither team could take advantage of opportunities created during the match.
In the tournament’s first round of fixtures, Vietnam’s U18s had defeated Singapore 1-0 while Myanmar recorded a 2-0 win over the hosts Hong Kong (China).
As a result the Vietnamese team are second in the table on 4 points, level on points with Myanmar but with a lower goal difference.
On the same day host nation Hong Kong (China) enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Singapore to climb up to third in the table.
Vietnam’s U18s will next play Hong Kong (China) whilst Myanmar will play their final group game against Singapore at 9 am on April 22 (Vietnam time).
For the Vietnamese team, the tournament in Hong Kong serves as a warm-up for the upcoming 2019 AFF U18 Championships and the 2020 AFC U19 Championship qualifiers, which will take place later this year.
