Vietnam lose 2-3 to China in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier
VOV.VN - China secured three points in their 3-2 win over Vietnam by an injury time goal in the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 7 (local time).
Both Zhang Yuning and Wu Lei scored a goal each to give China the lead until the 80th minute.
Ho Tan Tai and Nguyen Tien Linh managed to blow a two-goal lead in the last 10 minutes of the game.
However, Wu Lei, who is playing in La Liga, set a 3-2 victory for China in the 90+5 injury time.
Coach Park Hang-seo admitted that he had made an unreasonable substitution in the defence line, and wanted to take the responsibility following Vietnam’s 2-3 loss to China.
The same day, Australia trounced Oman 3-1, staying atop Group B with nine points. Meanwhile, Japan suffered their second defeat in a 0-1 loss to opponents Saudi Arabia.
Vietnam finished bottom of Group B after three losing games.
Park’s team will play another away match against Oman on October 12.
