Vietnam lose 0-2 to Japan in last Paris 2024 Summer Olympics qualifier
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s team conceded a 0-2 loss to Japan in their last match of the second qualifying round of the Paris 2023 Summer Olympics in Uzbekistan on November 1.
The Japanese team fielded a strong lineup, quickly controlling the match and putting pressure on the Vietnamese team.
In the 40th minute, Hinata Miyazawa escaped down the left wing and passed the ball smoothly to Risa Shimizu who tapped in from close range, opening the score for Japan.
Eight minutes after the break, Miyabi Moriya took advantage of Tran Thi Hai Linh’s indecisive clearance to shoot at close range, extending Japan’s lead.
Japanese women actively slowed down the tempo shortly afterwards, while their opponents lost their physical strength, finding it difficult to produce counterattacks.
Goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang continued to perform excellently, producing many impressive saves.
After 90 minutes, Vietnamese women accepted a 0-2 loss, meaning they were knocked out of encounters for a ticket to Paris next year.
The November 1 match was also the last the Vietnamese women played under the reign of coach Mai Duc Chung.
