Vietnam leads junior class at Asian weightlifting championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam finished among the leading teams at the 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships which closed in Doha, Qatar, on December 25, taking the leading position in the junior class and the third position in the youth class.
After a competition lasting for one week, Vietnamese junior athletes secured 11 gold, five silver, and two bronze medals, placing them first in the overall rankings.
They were followed by Thailand with 10 gold, one silver, and eight bronze medals. Others to make the top five teams were Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. In the youth class, Vietnam ranked third after winning nine gold, 16 silver, and nine bronze medals.
The top position went to Kazakhstan with 12 gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals, followed by Uzbekistan which won 10 gold, seven silver, and two bronze medals.
K'Duong was the most outstanding athlete of the Vietnamese team. He claimed six gold medals and set three new records at the Asian tournament.
The 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships took place in the Qatari capital of Doha from December 19 to December 25 and attracted 345 weightlifters worldwide, offering them a vital chance to display their skills and gain valuable international experience.
