Vietnam gets two silvers at Chinese Chess Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnamese players Nguyen Hoang Yen and Ngo Tri Thien won silver medals at the Asian Xiangqi (Chinese Chess) Championships which recently concluded in Bangkok, Thailand.
Yen lost out to Chinese master Wu Ke-xin in the final of the U18 category.
This marks the third time that the country’s leading female player has won the runner-up title at the Asian Xiangqi Championships. She also grabbed silver medals at the World Xiangqi Championships in 2011, 2013, and 2017.
Meanwhile, in the U16 category, Ngo Tri Thien came second after being defeated by Fan-rui of China, despite winning four previous consecutive games against Vishwanatt of India, Lu Cheng-hao of China, Chong Yik-yang of Singapore, and So Lut-chai of Hong Kong (China).
China proved their strength as the main favourites for the championship and dominated all categories throughout the tournament.
