Vietnam finish third with eight golds at World Taijiquan Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnamese wushu athletes have delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 World Taijiquan Championships in Bulgaria, winning eight gold, four silver and nine bronze medals to finish third overall.
On April 30, the final day of competition, they continued to perform strongly, adding crucial medals to their overall tally.
Notable martial artists such as Nguyen Trong Lam and Nguyen Khac Le Hoang played key roles in boosting the team’s success.
Nguyen Trong Lam emerged as the standout performer of the Vietnamese delegation, winning three gold medals across his events, demonstrating consistency and elite technical level.
Nguyen Le Chi contributed two gold medals, while Nguyen Khac Le Hoang and Nguyen Thi Minh Tam each secured one gold.
In the final medal standings, Hong Kong (China) topped the table with 9 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medals, leaving China in second place with 9 gold and 1 silver.
Vietnam placed third, ahead of strong contenders including the United States, Singapore and Malaysia. The third-place finish reaffirms Vietnam’s growing strength and sustained progress in international wushu.
The 2026 World Taijiquan Championships featured 46 events for men and women, attracting medal-winning athletes from 15 countries and territories, centred on traditional taijiquan routines.
