Vietnam defeat Netherlands at 10-ball Team World Championship opener
VOV.VN - Vietnam secured a strong start at the 2026 Predator WPA Teams 10-Ball World Championship, defeating the Netherlands 3-0 in their opening match held in Las Vegas, USA, on February 25.
The Vietnamese team, represented by Duong Quoc Hoang, Bui Xuan Vang, and Pham Phuong Nam, delivered a confident performance across three racks. Vietnam claimed victories with scorelines of 4-1, 4-3 and 4-1 to complete a clean sweep against the Dutch side.
With this impressive win, Vietnam advanced to the Winners’ Qualification Round of the 2026 Predator WPA Teams World Championship and will face the UK. A victory in the upcoming match would see the Southeast Asian team progress to the quarterfinals.
Other fixtures in the winners’ bracket include Germany vs Hong Kong (China), Austria vs USA B, and Spain vs Chinese Taipei.
The 2026 Predator WPA Teams 10-Ball World Championship draws the participation of 20 teams. The three-day tournament will run until February 27.
Duong Quoc Hoang is the most outstanding player of Vietnamese team. Prior to the team championship, Hoang claimed the Premier League Pool 2026 title in the United States, defeating Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 7-4 in the final.
The event, part of the World Nineball Tour, took place from February 19 to 23 in Florida and featured 16 of the world’s leading 9-ball players. The victory was Hoang’s first at the tournament and helped him secure the No.1 position.
