Vietnam crush the Philippines 5-0 at AFF U16 Youth Championship

VOV.VN - Vietnam clinched a 5-0 impressive victory over the Philippines on August 3 to retain their Group A lead at the ongoing AFF U16 Youth Championship taking place in Indonesia.

Before the start of the game, Vietnamese players aimed to score as many goals as possible to take advantage in the race to win a ticket to the semi-finals, and coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan’s students fulfilled the task by scoring five goals without giving their opponents any scoring chances.

Van Thuan put Vietnam ahead in the 38th minute before Long Vu extended their lead five minutes later.

After the interval, Vietnamese players dominated the game, scoring three more goals in less than 20 minutes. Notably, substitute Cong Hau hammered home twice, securing a convincing victory for Vietnam.

In the last Group A match, Vietnam will take on hosts Indonesia on August 6.

“We will try to have a better result in our last group match on August 6 because Indonesia are our archrivals in Group A,” said coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan in a press briefing after the match against the Philippines.
