U17 team beat Oman in second friendly ahead of Asian Cup

VOV.VN - The national U17 football team secured a 1-0 away win against Oman on March 28 in their second friendly match as part of their training camp for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals.

Defender Le Tan Dung netted the only goal of the game in the 69th minute. Earlier, errors in Oman’s defense gave strikers Hoang Trong Duy Khang and Tran Gia Bao opportunities to score in the 37th and 82nd minutes, but both failed to capitalize.

In an effort to equalize, Oman made several substitutions but were unable to break through Vietnam’s defense. This marked Vietnam’s second consecutive win against Oman, following their earlier triumph on March 25.

At the upcoming AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals, Vietnam face a challenging group featuring Australia, four-time champions Japan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Their matches are scheduled for April 4, 7, and 10.

The tournament, running from April 3 to 20 in Saudi Arabia, will see 16 teams split into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals and automatically qualify for the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
