Players depart for Oman ahead of AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national U17 football team flew to Oman on March 22 for a training camp in preparation for the upcoming AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals 2025 in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), during the training camp in Oman from March 23 to 29, the Vietnamese players will take on hosts Oman in two friendly matches on March 25 and 28.
Facing Oman, among powerhouses in Asia, is expected to provide valuable experience for the young Vietnamese players, helping them to sharpen their skills and prepare for the continental tournament. Oman’s U17 squad previously won the Asian championship in 1996 and 2000 and finished fourth at the U17 World Cup in 1995.
A total of 26 players have been called up to the national U17 team, although Vietnamese-Dutch player Thomas Mai Veeren has not been included in the squad for the training camp.
Coach Cristiano Roland expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the whole team, saying confidence in each player is the most important thing to gain success.
In the AFC U17 Asian Cup Finals 2025, Vietnam have been drawn into a tough group alongside Australia, four-time Asian champions Japan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with their fixtures due on April 4, April 7, and April 10, respectively.
The tournament is set to take place from April 3 to 20 in Saudi Arabia, featuring 16 teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals and secure a spot at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
