U16 national football team gears up for Asian Cup

VOV.VN - 22 members of the men’s U16 football team has gathered at the National Sports Training Centre in Hanoi to prepare for the AFC U16 Football Championships in India in September.

The squad and head coach Dinh The Nam will face strong rivals from Japan, Australia and Kyrgyzstan in Group B.

If the team reaches the event’s top four, they will earn a slot to compete in U17 World Cup.

Besides Vietnam, other representatives from Southeast Asia such as Thailand and Malaysia will also join the competition.

Malaysia is in Group C with the Republic of Korea, Oman and Iraq, while Thailand is in Group D with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
