Two Vietnamese female boxers advance to world championships quarter-finals for first time
VOV.VN - Ha Thi Linh and Vo Thi Kim Anh have become the first Vietnamese boxers to progress to the quarter-finals of the ongoing world championships in Serbia.

On March 12 in the women's 63kg category, Ha Thi Linh outfought her Venezuelan opponent Omailyn Alcala 4-1 after the judge announced the scorecards of 29/28, 29/28, 29/28, 29/28, and 28/29 in favour of the Vietnamese boxer.
The victory ensured that Linh qualified for the quarter-finals where she will face Jekaterina Sorokina of Latvia.
Later on the same day, Vo Thi Kim Anh recorded an impressive 5-2 win against her opponent Zeynab Rahimova of Azerbaijan. The Vietnamese boxer will progress to meet Widad Bertal of Morocco in the quarter-finals of the women’s 54kg category.
Both Vietnamese representatives will receive a bonus of US$10,000 for each person from the organising board for their qualification to the tournament’s quarter-final round.
In 2024, Ha Thi Linh and Vo Thi Kim Anh were two Vietnamese female boxers to earn places to the Paris Olympics.
The world championships organised by the International Boxing Association (IBA) began on March 8 and is scheduled to last through to March 16.
