Two silver medals for Vietnam at Singapore track and field event

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national athletics team secured two silver medals on the opening day of the 2025 Singapore Open Track-and-Field Championships, held on April 24.

Nguyen Hoai Van claimed the first silver in the men’s javelin with a throw of 64.37m, finishing behind Indonesia’s Ndiken Silfanus, who won gold with a mark of 66.90m.

In the men’s high jump, Nguyen Quoc Thinh added another silver for Vietnam after clearing 2.12m. The gold medal went to Thailand’s Kaeodam Tawan, who recorded a jump of 2.17m.

Vietnam has sent four athletes to compete in the two-day event. Pham Quynh Giang missed out on a medal in the women’s high jump, while Le Quoc Hy is set to compete in the men’s 400m hurdles on April 25.

Hosted annually by the Singapore Athletics Association, the tournament offers a key warm-up opportunity for regional athletes ahead of the 33rd SEA Games, scheduled to take place in Thailand from December 9 to 20.
