Two more golds for Vietnam at Thailand Open Track & Field Championships
VOV.VN - Young talents Ngoc Anh and Van Nghia brought home two more gold medals for Vietnam on June 23, the second competition day of the ongoing 2025 Thailand Open Track & Field Championships.

Ngoc Anh delivered an outstanding performance to win the gold medal in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, a sport that demands both endurance and tactical skill. Although the athlete did not start among the frontrunners, she showed remarkable perseverance and smart race strategy to make a stunning breakthrough and finish first with an impressive time of 11 minutes 9.21 seconds.
Meanwhile, Van Nghia dominated the men’s long jump with a superb leap of 7.77m, surpassing all his competitors to claim the top podium spot. He clearly outperformed the runner-up, Zhi Hang Tan from Malaysia, who recorded a jump of 7.62m.
Elsewhere, Vietnamese runner Le Thi Tuyet Mai claimed silver in the women’s 400m with a time of 53.37 seconds, finishing just behind Thailand’s champion Benny Nontanam (53.15 seconds). Notably, this was her personal best, surpassing her previous record of 54.94 seconds.
In the women’s shot put, Kim Thi Huyen of Vietnam earned a silver medal with her best throw of 14.94m, securing second place overall after a strong series of attempts.
Earlier on June 22, Nguyen Khanh Linh took a gold for Vietnam in the women’s 1,500m.
The tournament, running from June 20 to 26, serves as a key warm-up for Vietnam’s 12-member squad ahead of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), due to take place in Thailand from December 9 to 20.
