Two golds for Vietnam at 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series in Da Nang
VOV.VN - Vietnamese wrestlers have won two gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals at the 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series in the central city of Da Nang, marking the first time Vietnam has hosted the tournament after receiving hosting rights from United World Wrestling.
The competition concluded on May 10 on Da Nang’s beach, with all of Vietnam’s medals coming in the women’s events.
In the women’s 50kg category, Do Ngoc Linh won gold after finishing top of the round-robin standings. Doan Thi Kim Oanh took bronze in the same weight class.
In the women’s 70kg division, Dang Thi Linh produced a strong display to finish first among four competitors and secure another gold medal for Vietnam. Lai Dieu Thuong placed third to claim bronze.
In the women’s 60kg category, sisters Nguyen Thi My Trang and Nguyen Thi My Hanh both competed. My Hanh earned bronze, while My Trang finished fourth. Ukraine’s Moskalova won the division title.
In the women’s over-70kg category, Nguyen Thi Linh secured silver for Vietnam, while To Thi Minh claimed bronze. Greece’s Zacheila took the gold medal.
Vietnamese wrestlers failed to win medals in the men’s events despite competing in the 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and over-90kg categories.
The 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series features five stops. Vietnam hosted the opening event, with the remaining stages scheduled to take place in Croatia in May, Georgia in June, Azerbaijan in August and Greece in September.
Hosting the tournament for the first time and winning two gold medals on home soil was seen as an encouraging result for Vietnam’s wrestling team.
Before competing in Da Nang, Vietnam’s wrestling team took part in the 2026 Asian beach sports tournament in China, where Doan Thi Kim Oanh won silver while Dang Thi Linh and Nguyen Thi My Hanh each secured bronze.
