Truong Vinh Hien reaches Kuala Lumpur Open 2026 final
VOV.VN - Vietnamese pickleball player Truong Vinh Hien on May 16 advanced to the men’s singles final of the PPA Asia Kuala Lumpur Open 2026 after cruising past his patriot Nguyen Hung Anh in the semi-finals.
The all-Vietnamese semi-final at the tournament ended in dominant fashion as Hien showcased superior composure and consistency against Hung Anh.
The match started evenly in the opening exchanges, but after Hien moved ahead 6-4 in the first set, his opponent appeared to lose momentum.
Hung Anh made a series of unforced errors, and although he saved one set point, Hien still closed out the first set 11-5.
The gap in experience and confidence became even more apparent in the second set. Truong Vinh Hien quickly surged to a 10-3 advantage before closing out the match after his patriot hit a final error.
Finally, Hien secured a straight-set victory, 11-5, 11-3, to book a place in the men’s singles final against Nasa Hatakeyama of Japan on May 17.
Earlier, the Japanese player defeated Wil Shaffer of the US 11-4, 11-5 in the other semi-final.
