Trinh Thu Vinh rises to top of Asian 25m sport pistol rankings
VOV.VN - Vietnamese shooter Trinh Thu Vinh has climbed to the top of the Asian rankings in the women’s 25m sport pistol event, according to the latest standings released on December 22 by the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC).
Trinh Thu Vinh currently leads the rankings with 1,688 points, ahead of Azahari Alia Sazana of Malaysia in second place and Zhang Yueyue of China in third. Her rise shows consistent performances, highlighted by a gold medal in the women’s 25m sport pistol at the SEA Games 33 in 2025, where she also set a new Games record.
Vietnam also has another representative in the top 10 of the event, with Nguyen Thuy Dung ranked eighth after competing at the SEA Games 33.
In the women’s 10m air pistol, Trinh Thu Vinh is ranked ninth in Asia with 926 points. Earlier in 2025, she claimed a bronze medal in the women’s 25m sport pistol at the Asian Shooting Championships. Following the SEA Games 33, she is expected to be considered for recruitment into the People’s Public Security force.
In other events, Le Thi Mong Tuyen is ranked 28th in the women’s 10m air rifle standings, while Phi Thanh Thao sits 17th. In the men’s 10m air pistol, Pham Quang Huy is placed 10th with 740 points.
In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol, Ha Minh Thanh, the reigning SEA Games champion and record holder, has moved up to fourth in Asia after winning gold and breaking the Games record at the SEA Games 33 in 2025.
Vietnamese shooters are scheduled to compete at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026, set to take place in India in early February.
