Trang scored 584 points in the qualification round to finish third and advance to the final. Her teammates Trinh Thu Vinh placed 12th with 576 points, while Nguyen Thuy Dung ranked 16th with 569 points.

In the final, Trang competed calmly, eliminating her rivals one by one. Only Trang and Manu Bhaker of host India advanced to the top two. The pair were tied on 35 points, with Trang prevailing in the decisive shoot-off to secure the gold.

The result delivered Vietnam’s first gold medal at the championship and marked Trang’s first Asian-level gold medal with the national team. She had previously won gold at youth-level competitions.

Two months earlier, Trang earned a silver medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) in Thailand, where gold went to her teammate Trinh Thu Vinh.

Also on February 9, Vietnam secured a bronze medal in the women’s 25m pistol team event with a total score of 1,729 points. India claimed gold with 1,751 points, while Chinese Taipei finished second with 1,735 points.

The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026, which opened on February 4, runs through February 14. Vietnam has sent 14 shooters to compete across pistol and rifle events.
So far, the Vietnamese team has collected five medals: one gold, two silver and two bronze.
