Second silver medal for Vietnam at Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam on February 8 claimed its second silver medal at the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026 that is currently underway in India, after finishing runner-up in the men’s 25m standard pistol team event.
The Vietnamese team recorded a combined score of 1,687 points, securing second place in the competition. Hosts India topped the rankings with 1,715 points, while Kazakhstan finished third with 1,678 points.
In the individual standings, Vietnamese shooters were unable to reach the podium. Phan Cong Minh delivered the strongest performance, ranking sixth with 564 points. Pham Quang Huy and Ha Minh Thanh placed 10th and 12th, scoring 563 and 560 points, respectively.
The men’s 25m standard pistol silver marked Vietnam’s third medal at the ongoing championship. As of February 8, the Vietnamese shooting team has collected a total of three medals, including two silver and one bronze.
On February 9, the Vietnamese shooting team will compete in the women's 25m pistol, featuring the trio Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, and Nguyen Thuy Dung.
As many as 20 Asian shooters have registered to compete in the women's 25m pistol. Trinh Thu Vinh previously won a gold medal in this individual category at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) held in Thailand last year.
The Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship 2026 opened on February 4 and is scheduled to run until February 14. Vietnam has sent 14 shooters to both pistol and rifle divisions.
