Three local players through to World Cup 3-Cushion’s knock-out stage
VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese billiards representatives have advanced to the knock-out stage of the UMB 3-cushion World Cup tournament, with the event taking place in the Netherlands, after enjoyed victories in the group stage held on October 24.
Tran Quyet Chien took the top spot in Group B as he gained three victories over his two fellowmen Le Thanh Tien and Tran Thanh Luc with the score of 40-38 and 40-28, respectively. In addition, Chien also enjoyed an overwhelming win over Glenn Hofman from the host nation with a score of 40-3.
The country’s leading cueist will next play Cha Myeong Jong of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Round of 16.
His teammate Tran Thanh Luc also won a ticket into the knock-out stage after his two wins over Thanh Tien and Glenn Hofman, thereby ranking second in Group B. He will next face off against Tolgahan Kiraz of Turkey.
Elsewhere, Thanh Tu also entered the next round and will meet with Sameh Sidhom of Egypt.
Unfortunately, 2023 World Cup champion Bao Phuong Vinh was eliminated in the group stage after suffering two losses and one draw.
