Talented Vietnamese footballers born in the Year of the Snake

Phan Tuan Tai (January 7, 2001)

Phan Tuan Tai came through the youth academy of The Cong Viettel. The defender, born in 2001, won a gold medal at the 31st SEA Games under coach Park Hang-seo. Additionally, he was also part of the U23 Vietnam team that triumphed in the 2022 AFF U23 Championship in Cambodia.
Tuan Tai primarily plays as a left-back or left-winger. The The Cong Viettel player has earned eight caps for the national team and was highly trusted by coach Troussier during his tenure. However, at present, Tuan Tai is facing difficulties in securing a spot in the squad.

Hoang Van Toan (April 1, 2001)

Hoang Van Toan is one of the most promising young players in Vietnamese football today. By the age of 21 and 22, he had already won the V-League 2, V-League 1, and the AFF U23 Championship.
Despite playing in a star-studded Cong An Hanoi (Hanoi Police) squad, Van Toan remains a frequently used player under his coach. Additionally, the midfielder, born in 2001, has earned three caps for the Vietnamese national team, featuring in friendlies against the Republic of Korea (RoK), Syria, and Uzbekistan.

Nguyen Van Tung (June 2, 2001)

Van Vung developed through the Ha Noi FC academy. The 2001-born forward has won a V-League title, a National Cup, and a Super Cup. He also secured a gold medal at the 31st SEA Games and the 2022 AFF U23 Championship.
In the 2024/2025 season, Van Tung has made seven appearances for Ha Noi FC in the V-League, playing a total of 232 minutes but has yet to score. Struggling to secure a starting spot, Van Tung has not progressed as expected. He has also made four appearances for the Vietnamese national team but is still searching for his first goal.

Vo Minh Trọng (October 24, 2001)

Vo Minh Trong is currently playing for Binh Dương FC. The defender impressed in the 2023/2024 season, earning a call-up to the Vietnamese national team under coach Troussier, where he has since made nine appearances for the “Golden Stars.”
Although small in stature, Minh Trọng is a skillful player with excellent crossing ability. In the 2024/2025 V-League season, he has played in nine matches for Binh Duong and remains a key player for the club.

Nguyen Trong Hoang (April 14, 1989)

Trong Hoang is one of the few Vietnamese players born in 1989 still competing at the highest level while maintaining strong form. Throughout his career, he has won four V-League titles, a National Cup, and two National Super Cups. He also bagged a gold medal at the 30th SEA Games and lifted the 2018 AFF Cup trophy.
Despite saying goodbye to the national team, Trong Hoang continues to perform well for Ha Tinh FC. At 36 years old, he remains a key player for the team, having made seven appearances in the 2024/2025 V-League season.
