Highly anticipated matches of Vietnamese football in Year of Snake 2025

VOV.VN - After the nine-day Lunar New Year 2025 holiday, Vietnamese football will see several exciting matches in both domestic competitions and at the national team level.

Thrilling club level action

Right after the holiday period, Vietnamese football will quickly resume its rhythm with the first match between Nam Dinh FC and Hanoi FC. This will be an early game of Round 13 of the V-League 2024-2025 season, which helps Nam Dinh prepare for their crucial AFC Champions League 2 matches.

The match is scheduled for February 5, just three days after the Tết holiday, meaning both teams will need to resume their training early to be ready for the game.

Only three days later, on February 8, Round 12 of the V-League 2024-2025 season will kick off, marking the return of the league with early matches.

At the regional level, two clubs - Thanh Hoa and Hanoi Police - will play their final group-stage matches in the 2024-2025 ASEAN Club Championship. Thanh Hoa will likely gather early for their away match against PSM (Indonesia) on February 5. This game is considered crucial for Thanh Hoa to advance past the group stage.

The next day, February 6, Hanoi Police will host Borneo (Indonesia) at home. Unlike Thanh Hoa FC, they enjoy the advantage of playing at home but still need to gather early to be prepared for the match.

With the rapid return to competitive action after the holiday period, players must stay professional and maintain peak fitness throughout the break to be ready for the immediate resumption of league play.

A good start for national team?

Following their ASEAN Cup 2024 victory, the Vietnam national team will start 2025 with a relatively manageable schedule. Coached by Kim Sang-sik, the team will focus on the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Vietnam will play in a group alongside Laos, Malaysia, and Nepal, giving them a strong chance to secure a spot in the 2027 Asian Cup final tournament. The first match of Vietnam’s qualifiers will be against Laos at home on March 25.

With the home advantage, Vietnam are expected to dominate and secure a win against the underdogs Laos. This match will be an excellent opportunity for coach Kim and his players to kick off their year with a victory, fueling hopes for a successful 2025 for Vietnamese football.

A month later, U17 Vietnam will compete in the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup, a crucial tournament to secure a spot in the 2025 U-17 World Cup. Asia will have 8 spots at the World Cup, and U17 Vietnam have a great chance of qualifying if they progress beyond the group stage.

Vietnamese football fans have much to look forward to, with these exciting fixtures across both the club and national team levels.
