First gold medal for Vietnam at Asian Beach Games 2026

VOV.VN - Ha Thi Thuy Hang on April 24 brought home the first gold medal at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, after taking the lead in the long jump on the second competition day.

The 20-year-old athlete faced considerable pressure as she hadn't yet achieved a medal-winning performance in her fourth attempt. However, her two impressive final jumps helped Thuy Hang achieve a distance of 6.16 meters, surpassing opponents from Sri Lanka to claim the top spot.

With two medals secured on April 24, the Vietnamese sports delegation rose to fourth place on the overall medal table, behind China, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines, each of which won two gold medals.

The 2026 Asian Beach Games consists of 62 sets of medals across 14 sports. Vietnam sends 55 athletes to vie for medals in 8 sports.
